Supporting Agroecological Transitions of Agroforestry Landscapes using an Innovative Transdisciplinary Assessment Framework
AGRECO4CAST is co-designing a standardized assessment framework for Living Lab (LL) innovations to support the integration of agroecological principles in agroforestry landscapes with perennial cropping systems such as vineyards, olive groves, and fruit orchards across Europe. The project combine agroecological co-creation with process-based modeling and stakeholder-driven impact assessments, supported by artificial intelligence (AI) and a digital round table (DRT).
Stakeholders (SHs) at farm and landscape levels are involved throughout all phases of the assessment, working alongside experts in modeling, ecology, planning, social sciences, economics, and AI. This collaborative approach enabled the evaluation of co-created transition pathways. AGRECO4CAST monitors and assesses ongoing experiments and guided the redesign of landscape systems through the five steps of agroecological transition, while maintaining active dialogue with the EU Agroecology Partnership.
